Class action suit

I have the same problem. Once you are signed up there is nothing that can be done, you are at the mercy of Hughes. I think we should find a law firm that will make this a class action suit.

I read you, same issues here. Not what the pretty redhead promises- aah faster everything. One assumes all the time of course. That’s why we have a Bureau of Standards for definitions. Before Hughes the only people that didn’t have to adhere to standards was the Federal Reserve. Somewhere I came across this law firm that invited me to file a complaint Re: http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/possible.html FWIW I filed a complaint and do receive a monthly newsletter, that’s it. I also wrote my Missouri Representatives, from whom I have yet to receive an acknowledgement. I do regular speed tests and keep a log just in case i need proof. I’m glad to see this site, I signed on to another site and stated my beef and got real flamed so I apologized and backed off as requested. cr521

We just got the satellite installed two days ago and we spent the day on the phone with customer service. We are averaging speeds of 230 down and 75 up - and we signed up for the highest speed they provide.

As it happens, I am an attorney that does class action work and if any subscribers in California, Nevada or Arizona would like to contact me - I would like to talk to others about their experiences. My e-mail is tde@brandilaw.com. You can research my firm at that URL as well.

I had the same problem with this FAP crap. I called back my installer several times, because of my slow internet at times. I’d be getting 9 to 13 download and 700 to 1200 upload. Besides downloads I listen to internet radio. He came up four or five times and used my phone to call his tech man for hours sometimes. They change modems, checked Hughes end, even one time changed satellites. It would go away and come back. The next time I was highly pissed over the phone, so they sent the owners of the installation company’s son out. He was switched back and forth to tech’s over my phone for and hour. He sat there over phone telling these people that he was at my house doing the call, and that we used two different computers and had the same problem ( they tried to say it was my hardware). He even said to them that downloads were ridiculously slow. He got pissed and said he had one other special number to call. Well he got a hold of this lady tech that knew what the problem was right away. She asked for the site Id# and told us about this fare access policy thing. The lady also showed him where to find this FAP readings. Now the installer had no idea about this and we looked and could not find any of this on the contract when I signed up. Before I lived in the sticks, I had Road Runner with no problems at all and it was cheaper, I could also download 24-7 if I wanted to. What was the real kick in the ass is that the tech lady said that I could increase my download threshold by paying more money. So I got pissed again and grabbed the phone and said, look I can understand that if you have one satellite that’s over crowded and that FAP may be needed. She stopped me and said no there’s lots of room, we don’t just have one satellite. I said I pay over sixty buck’s for 200 meg’s, but I can get more if I pay more. So I said what is the need for FAP, or is this just a case of Jesse James without a mask (a.k.a.. highway robbery)? The conversation was over, she said that’s the way it is, and I was not the tech, so I was not the one she should be talking to. If this should not be regulated, then I don’t know what should.

This blog brought up maybe an interesting way to stop Hughes Net-through the installers. If enough of us tell the installers what a horrible system Hughes is, maybe they can put pressure on Hughes. What happened to truth in advertising?

Oh YES- their 30 day trial period is a real hoax. It never did work properly for me,,, first day I got fap’d, called and up’ed the plan to the largest- then their modem failed twice while downloading a file, called in, they would do nothing so I got fap’d the second time in 2 days,, speeds were terrible, tech told me to check them (over hughes net of course) 3 times a day and in 4 days get back to them, I asked if this speed checking would count against my fap threshold- tech said no- later found out it did- HUGHES LIES- so I canceled their free trial- cost me 300 bucks- 200 for the install they would not credit back and around 100 to ship back the equipment- and what can I do- nothing but bitch here and vent a little there- what is this coming to?

Ohh how i wish that i had found this website BEFORE!!!!! My neighbor has hughes net and said that he has no problem with his, So stupid me went with Hughes. BOUGHT THE DISH. Everything was find for the 30 days hit the fap one time the first night because my tech did not fell it necessary to protect my access. Day 32 trouble. kept getting error code after error code. Called in they said it was this and then it was that. Finally they said it was the modem. Sent me a new one. Worked fine for a couple of days and then the same error messages. Called it was the same over again. It is this and it must be that. Finally it was the modem again. For those of you counting this is number 2. Month 3. Started having the same problem again. Was told again that it was the modem. I asked to speak to a supervisor, put on hold for long time. Same girl came on and offered a month free. I told her that i wanted a supervisor and finally when i got the supervisor, he informed me that i needed a higher level of tech help. Got the higher level of tech and was told that i did not need a new modem that the system is being worked on. that was last week. This week same problem, and it does not matter what the weather is IT SUCKSSSSSS…. I pay 70 a month and maybe can be on the internet for 70 percent of the time. And the FAP Sucks. We can download more than four or five songs before we hit it.
