HN7000S bad news

It has been a while since posting to this site. I finally got rid of the HN7000 and went back to the DW7000, the service is usable again now. I also dropped the static IP and dropped down a service level. I am now paying about 20% less than I was before and get download speeds about 5 times faster and upload speeds 10 times faster.

I believe Hughes has a problem and of course expecting them to do anything about it is out of the question. It took me a dozen phone calls, untold hours on the telephone, working through outright lies and misleading statements from customer support just to get my service back to where it was BEFORE I paid for the upgrade.

Hughes home satellite service is nothing but consumer fraud.

I don’t understand why Hughes satellite service is considered consumer fraud. Are you trying to download movies and games? Didn’t you know about the FAP? It’s not cheap to send information from your house to a satellite and back, you know? Just keep an eye on your bandwidth usage and you’ll be fine if you stay under the FAP usage. I found the FAP http://www.satellitefamily.com/hughesnet-fair-access-policy.aspx

In my opinion it is fraud because they make misleading and false statements in their advertising. Of course I know about the FAP and I have NEVER reached it, period. The fact is they do not have enough capacity to support their existing customer base and yet they continue trolling for new suckers. I know this is true because THEIR OWN SUPPORT PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME. Regarding how much it cost to send info from me to the satellite and back, I am made well aware of it every month, I just want the value for my money I was promised.

I am about to buy the Verizon broadband unit and sign up with them. I have been a loyal (what choice did I have?) customer since version 1.0 when it was download only.
The contract was changed ‘unilaterally’ (illegal under California law) so now if I am updating a game (I do NOT have regular frequent heavy downloads!) I can watch the meter drop while I am updating or installing.
One day it got down to 1 bit per second. No joke.
I am about to upgrade right out of Hughes - and they can go fap themselves…
Oh, their tech support once advised me that if the sat driver software would not install properly I should reformat drive C - I reported him to his supervisor, as afaik they both had a really good laugh.

Ned, alltell offers a sat service, much much faster than the crooks at hughes and there is no fap policy- just blazing fast up and download speeds. 60 bucks per month- unlimited up and down—– how can they do it?? All I know is that it works!!
